HTN & angina pectoris Initially 5 mg once daily, may be increased to 10 mg once daily. Max: 20 mg once daily. Stable chronic heart failure 1.25 mg once daily on 1st wk, 2.5 mg once daily on 2nd wk, 3.75 mg once daily on 3rd wk, 5 mg once daily on 4th wk, 7.5 mg once daily on 8th wk, 10 mg once daily on 12th wk & beyond for maintenance therapy. Max: 10 mg once daily.
View Bisloc 5 overdosage for action to be taken in the event of an overdose.
Administration
May be taken with or without food.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity. Acute heart failure or during episodes of heart failure decomposition requiring IV therapy; cardiogenic shock, 2nd or 3rd degree AV block w/o pacemaker, sick sinus syndrome; SA block, symptomatic bradycardia & hypotension, severe bronchial asthma or COPD; severe forms of peripheral arterial occlusive disease or Raynaud's syndrome; untreated pheochromocytoma; metabolic acidosis.
Not for initial treatment of stable chronic heart failure. DM, 1st degree AV block, Prinzmetal's angina, peripheral arterial occlusive disease, psoriasis or personal history of psoriasis; ongoing desensitization therapy, strict fasting. Pregnancy & lactation.
